At HARC, we place a strong emphasis on empowerment through knowledge, and one of the most SUCCESSFUL ways is through a program we call

Mixin'It Up HIV 101 ROAR Jeopardy
Mixin it up is a role playing activity that demonstrates how transmission of HIV can take place in a given population. Participants are each given "risk" cards and glasses of water. They are unaware that one of the glasses of water contains baking soda and will turn a different color when indicator is added. Participants are asked to mix according to their risk factors as indicated by the card. Discussion follows and at the end, participants observe how "HIV" (the baking soda) was transmitted within the population based upon their risk cards.
